Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could

Love, it seems to be the subject of a lot of music, books, movies, etc. Love, not just romantic love, but love itself is the most incredible thing in this world. Worldly possessions mean nothing when it comes down to it... those you love are what matter most. I think I've always known this somehow, and I have lived my life for others.

Growing up, I had some favorite love movies, and particular scenes (some heavily influenced by music of course). I thought today I'd mix it up and share that. I also noticed a trend that I was particularly drawn to stories which involved following one's heart, despite what others though, or how they might not fit the "norms" society always has in place. It's only looking back as an adult that I can so definitively see this trend in my tastes as even a young child.

The Sound of Music, I remember the moment when Georg von Trapp finally says "You can't marry someone when you're in love with someone else...can you?" You can see throughout the movie the chemistry, and actually see them fall in love... while learning to appreciate and love music. It was and will always be the perfect movie to me.

I also loved The Thorn Birds, Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, You've Got Mail, even the Little Mermaid, lol.... They don't all have fairy tale endings... but they have deep and true loves that defy all logic and odds. Instead of opting for comfort, settling, or being scared - they let themselves be totally vulnerable to true love. Though I have to say The Thorn Birds is the most heartbreaking.

So, there you are... some of my "feel good" movies from the earlier years. And below I'll share some of the best - in my opinion!

Music & Love are the languages of my heart. Sometimes it's a painful world when you love deeper than most and unconditionally... because I've learned the hard way that those people are rare. When someone tells me something, or we care about each other I always assumed they were like me and would be there for me no matter what and mean what they say. It's ok... I just learn to be aware that I'm unique and hope some day I'll find someone who appreciates me as I am.

The Sound of Music:

The Sound of Music - "Something Good" Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews

"Maria: Perhaps I had a wicked childhood Perhaps I had a miserable youth But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past There must have been a moment of truth

For here you are, standing there, loving me Whether or not you should So somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good

Nothing comes from nothing Nothing ever could

So somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good

Captain: For here you are, standing there, loving me Whether or not you should

Maria: So somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good

Maria and the Captain: Nothing comes from nothing Nothing ever could

Maria: So somewhere in my youth

Captain: Or childhood

Maria: I must have done something . . .

Maria and the Captain: Something good"
